Biesterfeld Group's GME Chemicals Acquires Distribution Business from Tat Lee Engineering

Hamburg-headquartered global distributor of plastics, chemicals, and specialty products, Biesterfeld Group, continues its expansion in Asia with the acquisition of the entire distribution business of Tat Lee Engineering through its subsidiary, GME Chemicals.

With this acquisition, GME Chemicals obtains, amongst others, the distribution rights for the specialty lubricants MOLYKOTE from DuPont and DOWSIL high-performance silicone materials from DOW. As part of the acquisition, a team of key executives from Tat Lee has also joined GME Chemicals, ensuring a seamless transition and absolute continuity of existing business.

Icon Law's Director, Jeremiah Huang, and Associate, Loh Yu Tong, advised and represented GME Chemicals in all stages of the acquisition, including the transfers of the distribution rights, team and business/inventory.

This is not the first time Jeremiah has assisted the management team - indeed, he represented the former shareholders of GME Chemicals in their sale to the Biesterfeld Group back in 2021, and is grateful to now represent GME Chemicals as a subsidiary of the Biesterfeld Group.

GME Chemicals was established in 1999 and is present across Southeast Asia and China, whilst the Biesterfeld Group, which was established a little earlier (in 1906) is in over 50 countries. With over 1100 employees and an annual revenue of over a billion EUR, the Biesterfeld Group (of which GME Chemicals is a part) is one of the world's leading distribution and service companies in the field of plastics, rubber and specialty chemicals.
